K-12 Counselor's Office

My name is Ashley LaVine, and I am a School Counselor at Fort Ann Central School. I feel privileged to be able to counsel students from kindergarten to twelfth grade in the district, working so closely with our students and families. I love being a School Counselor because I have the opportunity to be a part of such a great district and community and to help advocate for students and families.

My main goal is to help promote student success in academic, personal, social, and career development. I collaborate and consult with teachers, parents, and community agencies to help achieve this goal. Short-term/crisis counseling, as well as small group counseling, is provided. I facilitate many positive programs within the school for kindergarten to twelfth grade, such as character education and the student-of-the-month program in the elementary building. I also work with K-12 students on anti-bullying.

  • Explain disclosure in developmentally appropriate terms, including the limits of confidentiality, such as the possible necessity for consulting with other professionals, privileged communication, and legal or authoritative restraints.

Information will be kept confidential unless disclosure is required to prevent clear and imminent danger to the student or others when legal requirements demand that confidential information be revealed. The School Counselor will make reasonable efforts to honor the wishes of parents/guardians concerning information regarding the student and consult with appropriate professionals when in doubt as to the validity of an exception.
